We regret we do not have any Beginners Courses or Taster sessions scheduled at the moment. When scheduled details and application forms are available via the links to the left. Please contact courses@wellesbourneswordclub.co.uk to register your interest or if you have any questions.

Learning to Fence

If you are interested in learning to fence the best way is by joining a group of like-minded people on one of our Beginner's Courses where you'll be taught Foil (to Grade 1 standard) which is the is the normal way to commence fencing. These courses are led by one of our fully-qualified and very experienced coaches alongside our Club nights normally starting in September and January. You can obtain further details of our next Beginners' Course and the application forms via the sidebar to the left.

Of course, you may want to know a bit more about fencing first before signing up for the Beginners Course. If so then we can still help by offering you a 1 hour Taster Session to give you an introduction to the sport. We hope this will inspire you to join the Course but you are not committed to do so. Again details of our next Taster can be found via the sidebar.

You can start fencing at any age, but the minimum age for courses at Wellesbourne is 11. If you are younger we may be able to help you start fencing by recommending a suitable club near you.

All our coaches are registered with British Fencing. They are required to hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check certificate (once known as as a CRB check) and a certificate confirming attendance on a Safeguarding and Protecting Children course within the last three years.
